Fill in the Blank Friday – 04/20

1.  Today is a great day because I just got some GREAT news…can tell yet though! 😉

2.   Tomorrow I will be attending a wedding with my man. Gotta let him see me wearing something other than my SAHM “uniform”. LOL!

3.  My favorite time of day is   just after my kids bedtime   because   I get to reflect upon the day, watch my kids sleeping, and listen to the quiet.

4. Sometimes you just have to    smile, nod, and THINK all the things you want to say. 😉

5. A song that I just can’t get enough of lately is   hmmm…not sure. No “earworms” lately, thankfully.

6. My favorite accessory is   a necklace, specifically a locket my mom gave me for my birthday, after my kids were born. It has two hearts on it, and my kids’ names and birthdate engraved on the back. My man even got pictures of my kids to include in the locket for my birthday last year, so now the locket is “complete”…finally!

7.  My favorite thing about this week was finding “the” dress to wear at a wedding my man and I are going to tomorrow.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.  My greatest strength is making people feel at ease, and being able to “translate” Autism to regular English apparently (or so I’ve been told by many people recently).

2.   My greatest weakness is dealing with change in routines, and getting “stuck” on certain tasks.

3.  People always compliment me on my parenting skills, and my smile.

4. If you found me procrastinating you’d probably find me on Facebook…sad, but true.

5. The most cozy place in all the world is snuggling with my kids.
6. Something new that I tried recently was painting pottery with my daughter. We had a great time. Pics will be uploaded soon of the finished projects.

7.  This weekend I would like to have some time to plan. I’ve been invited to talk about Autism next Wednesday on a local radio station (yay!), so I need to do some prep-work and planning before then. I’m co-chairing my daughter’s school fundraiser on Saturday so planning time may have to wait until early next week.

Fill in the Blank Friday – Colour

1. My favorite colour is   green   .

2. My home decor colour palette includes a lot of greens and creams.

3. Other people always tell me I look good in the colour     green and brown – not a far leap for us gingers.

4. The colour I detest is puce – does this really need further explanation?

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you’d see would be jeans and black – what can I say? I’m a SAHM.

6. A colour that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is   most pastel colours. Although I’m fortunate to have lots of freckles on my face which make it seem like I’m not as pale as most other redheads, pastels just don’t work for me.

7. The colour of my favorite dress is   a non-metallic gold. I have a beautiful evening dress that matches my haircolour, with a lace overlay. It hides everything and accentuates what I want it to accentuate. Don’t have many opportunities to wear it though – think the last time I wore it was when I was breastfeeding and frankly, I was just happy it still fit me!

Fill in the Blank Friday – 03/09

I missed last week’s Fill in the Blank Friday so I thought I should catch up…

1.  The highlight of my week was going skating with my daughter’s school, specifically seeing the happiness on her face when I walked into the dressing room. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make it because I came down with the flu earlier in the week but I had enough strength to go, and I’m so glad I did. My daughter was so happy! The next highlight of my week was getting roses from my man, just because. Swoon…

2.   If I had to classify my interior design aesthetic it would be…still to be determined. I like having things comfy and cozy, and my choice of colour is green.

3.  My first vehicle was a Honda Civic 4-door…I miss driving a Honda, but for now, am a proud driver of a sexy mini-van.

4. An item I need to have in my day in order to function is my cell phone and my computer (yes, I’m counting them as only one thing), and a close second is at least one cup of chai but there are days I have actually done without a chai, surprisingly.

5. My favorite way to waste time is Facebook.

6. Right now I could really go for having my full appetite back. It’s coming back slowly from the flu but there’s yummy bacon-wrapped steak in my fridge, made by my man, just waiting for me and I haven’t been able to enjoy it yet.

7.  This weekend I will be spending 3 days straight with just my daughter, while my son spends the weekend with their dad. Neither of us get much one-on-one time with either of the kids, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Fill in the Blank Fridays – About Blogging

1.  I started my blog because I love writing, and I wanted to share about how our little family lives with Autism.

2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs “real” people and families, dealing with the positive and challenging situations we all encounter.

3.  Something I love about blogging is being able to share our experiences, and also learn about other family dynamics.

4. A favorite blog post of mine is…hmmm, that’s a hard one to narrow it down to just one, so here are a few:

My most popular posts have been:

5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I’ve never before mentioned on my blog is that I knew my marriage was over 3 years before it actually ended.

6.  My new favorite blogs to read are:

Yup, I love blogs that are high in sarcasm!

7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are being negative. Since the end of my marriage, I’ve tried to look at the positive side of every situation…but I’ll admit that some situations are easier than others. 😉

Fill in the Blank Friday – 02/03

1.   If money wasn’t an issue, the first thing I’d cross of my life list is buying the kids and I our own home, which would include a Snoezelen room and a wonderful playroom for the kids.

2.     ________     is something I like that other people think is weird. Hmmm, nothing comes to mind for this one.

3.  If my life were a movie right now, the title would be “Don’t make me go Mama Bear on you!” or “6 and a half years of diapers is ENOUGH!”.

4.  Three things I am looking forward to this month are:

  • Getting through a 2-year “anniversary” of the end of a life-changing time period.
  • Enjoying my son’s vocalizations, which have suddenly appeared (and are more recognizable to others) after a VERY difficult week with him.
  • Going skating with my daughter’s class trip.

5.  My favorite song to sing in the shower is… “Rubba, dub, dub, 2 babies in the tub”, “Old McDonald Had a Farm”. What can I say? The only time I sing in the shower is when my kids are having their baths.

6.  If I found out that the production of     Starbucks chai    was ending this month, I’d go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

7.  One thing I’ll never grow tired of is watching my kids play together, especially when my son initiates playing with my daughter. It’s amazing!

Fill in the Blank Friday – 01/26

1.   My favorite place I’ve ever traveled to is…well, it’s a toss-up, but at least there’s a common language. 😉 I’ve loved each time I’ve been toMontreal,Canada, and I loved being inParis,France.  Must be something about the French language.

2.     Spain and Italy      are places I’d love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by reading or sleeping. If I’m on a plane, I try to wake up for the movie if one is being shown, then I go right back to sleep.

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are     water  ,    something to read    and     a warm blanket  .

5.  My favourite travel companion is…hmmm, can’t really say I have one. I usually travel alone, to somewhere where I know people.

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is when I was 11 years old. I went to England as an “Unaccompanied Minor” (“UM”). My parents left the airport when we were boarding the plane, and after sitting on the tarmac for 45mins, we all got off the plane because there was some kind of mechanical problem. By then, my parents had left the airport and were almost home. I called to let them know and, because I was told that we would be re-boarding shortly and my parents were 1 hour away, my parents stayed home. The passengers and I reboarded the plane twice before missing the no-takeoff time of night so the other “UM’s” and I spent the entire night racing around a virtually empty airport in wheelchairs while the flight attendants all took turns watching (and timing!) us. Fun night!

7.  The most exotic food I’ve ever tried while traveling is…can’t say anything is popping into my mind right now.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I’d live in Vancouver, BC Canada. I lived there for almost 5 years and loved it.

9.  I have been to    at least a dozen   states in the U.S. I’m not sure exactly how many as my family drove from Ontario, Canada to Florida one March Break when I was a teenager, and I went on a road trip along the West Coast from British Columbia, Canada to California, as well as trips to New York City and San Francisco.
