Fill in the Blank Fridays – About Blogging

1.  I started my blog because I love writing, and I wanted to share about how our little family lives with Autism.

2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs “real” people and families, dealing with the positive and challenging situations we all encounter.

3.  Something I love about blogging is being able to share our experiences, and also learn about other family dynamics.

4. A favorite blog post of mine is…hmmm, that’s a hard one to narrow it down to just one, so here are a few:

My most popular posts have been:

5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I’ve never before mentioned on my blog is that I knew my marriage was over 3 years before it actually ended.

6.  My new favorite blogs to read are:

Yup, I love blogs that are high in sarcasm!

7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are being negative. Since the end of my marriage, I’ve tried to look at the positive side of every situation…but I’ll admit that some situations are easier than others. 😉

Fill in the Blank Friday – 02/03

1.   If money wasn’t an issue, the first thing I’d cross of my life list is buying the kids and I our own home, which would include a Snoezelen room and a wonderful playroom for the kids.

2.     ________     is something I like that other people think is weird. Hmmm, nothing comes to mind for this one.

3.  If my life were a movie right now, the title would be “Don’t make me go Mama Bear on you!” or “6 and a half years of diapers is ENOUGH!”.

4.  Three things I am looking forward to this month are:

  • Getting through a 2-year “anniversary” of the end of a life-changing time period.
  • Enjoying my son’s vocalizations, which have suddenly appeared (and are more recognizable to others) after a VERY difficult week with him.
  • Going skating with my daughter’s class trip.

5.  My favorite song to sing in the shower is… “Rubba, dub, dub, 2 babies in the tub”, “Old McDonald Had a Farm”. What can I say? The only time I sing in the shower is when my kids are having their baths.

6.  If I found out that the production of     Starbucks chai    was ending this month, I’d go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

7.  One thing I’ll never grow tired of is watching my kids play together, especially when my son initiates playing with my daughter. It’s amazing!

Fill in the Blank Friday – 01/26

1.   My favorite place I’ve ever traveled to is…well, it’s a toss-up, but at least there’s a common language. 😉 I’ve loved each time I’ve been toMontreal,Canada, and I loved being inParis,France.  Must be something about the French language.

2.     Spain and Italy      are places I’d love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by reading or sleeping. If I’m on a plane, I try to wake up for the movie if one is being shown, then I go right back to sleep.

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are     water  ,    something to read    and     a warm blanket  .

5.  My favourite travel companion is…hmmm, can’t really say I have one. I usually travel alone, to somewhere where I know people.

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is when I was 11 years old. I went to England as an “Unaccompanied Minor” (“UM”). My parents left the airport when we were boarding the plane, and after sitting on the tarmac for 45mins, we all got off the plane because there was some kind of mechanical problem. By then, my parents had left the airport and were almost home. I called to let them know and, because I was told that we would be re-boarding shortly and my parents were 1 hour away, my parents stayed home. The passengers and I reboarded the plane twice before missing the no-takeoff time of night so the other “UM’s” and I spent the entire night racing around a virtually empty airport in wheelchairs while the flight attendants all took turns watching (and timing!) us. Fun night!

7.  The most exotic food I’ve ever tried while traveling is…can’t say anything is popping into my mind right now.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I’d live in Vancouver, BC Canada. I lived there for almost 5 years and loved it.

9.  I have been to    at least a dozen   states in the U.S. I’m not sure exactly how many as my family drove from Ontario, Canada to Florida one March Break when I was a teenager, and I went on a road trip along the West Coast from British Columbia, Canada to California, as well as trips to New York City and San Francisco.

Fill in the Blanks Friday – 01/13

1.   The last thing I ate was pear cupcakes. A friend gave me a package to bake them with the kids, so my daughter and I made them tonight for my knitting club (otherwise known as “Stitch & Bitch”…tee hee!).

2.   The last song I listened to was…I have no idea. I was driving today and the radio was on, then the kids’ TV. Honestly, I just try to tune it all out, unless I really need to hear some music.

3.  Using the letters in my name I can spell (Meghan): Megan (even though this is “spelt wrong”…tee hee), Meg, me, hag, a, an, gem, gah, nag, mag (does that count? It’s a short form…), hem, mean.

4.  If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick black. It matches everything, almost all accessories “work” with it, and most of all there are still black jeans and many choices of yoga pants. 😉

5.  If you were to look in my bag right now you’d find my wallet, my daytimer, a notebook, cue cards (don’t ask), a granola bar, gum, ponytail holder, small hair clip, large hair clip, pens, pencil, winter hat, mittens, work gloves, a bunch of papers I need to recycle, and some garbage I need to throw out…I really need to sort through this more often!

6.  When I finish filling in the blanks I’m going to call my man, and then go to bed.

7.  My all time favorite song to dance to is…umm, I have no idea. My favourite song is dependent upon my mood.  One minute, it’s top 40 pop music, the next it’s Gabriel Faure’s Requiem, then the next it’s Oye Como Va. I have posted a list of my favourites before here.

Happy Friday the 13th! 🙂

Fill in the Blank Friday – First of 2012

1.   One of my favorite things to do when I have free time is curl up with my man and watch a movie, or go skating with him and/or my kids.

2.   When I have free time I tend to blog, visit my favourite websites, or call a friend.

3.  If I had an entire day completely to myself I would actually do those quality “me-time” things I never have time to do…wander around a bookstore, go for a walk (well, not when it’s -25 degrees Celsius like it is now), enjoy a chai, get a massage, or maybe just spend the day at the lake reading a book, etc.

4.  I would prefer to spend my free time (alone or with others…) with others. I’m an extrovert through and through, which means I rejuvenate by being with others.

5.  Most of my free time happens on weekends when my kids are at their dad’s place.

6.  The best thing about free time is the possibilities of what you can do with that free time.

7.  The next time I have free time I should probably    be cleaning, doing laundry, getting more organized, etc   but instead, I’ll probably be trying to do as little as possible, whatever that looks like at that moment.

Happy new year!

Fill in the Blank Friday – New Year’s Theme

1.   New Years is when I can start a new calendar…and yes, this makes me happy.

2.   One of my New Year’s resolutions will be to start journaling again. I was meticulous with it at the end of my marriage and for a year and a half afterwards, but I’ve gone away from it.  New year = new journal book.

3.  A New Year’s resolution I’ve made in the past was to NOT watch TV one night per week. Kept it up for about 4 months but then I got really ill with my fibroid and basically spent my time in the bathroom or living room, trying to conserve energy because my iron levels were dangerously low.

4. The most time consuming resolution I ever made was…hmmm, can’t think of one as I don’t really make resolutions per say.  I just decide to do something, and do it.

5.  This year I will be spending New Year’s Eve with my man, we’ll actually be together at midnight – last year, we weren’t “us” yet, and he had to go to work so he left at 11pm. We’re fixing that this year.

6.  If I could wish one thing for my new year it would be to be a more present parent.

7.  2012 is going to be my year! According to the Chinese Zodiac, it’s the year of the Dragon…and I’m a Dragon so…bring it on!

Happy New Year!

Fill in the Blanks Friday – Christmas theme

1.   The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to have an open heart and an easy smile for everyone around you.

2.   The thing I love most about Christmas is the lights, colours and sparkles (let’s face it, I am a girl after all…if it sparkles, it’s all good!).

3.  The holiday season is a time for being with those you love, and being thankful for having them close, whether physically close or close in your heart.

4. My favorite thing to eat at the holidays is my mom’s minced meat tarts…yummy!  She always has to make twice as many as she needs because she knows I’m going to steal them.

5.  I will be spending Christmas with my man and his family. My kids will be at their dad’s for Christmas this year, so the three of us will be celebrating with my parents when they return mid-week.

6.  Tis better to (give or receive?) give, give and keep giving…gifts and giving of your time.

7.  I’m dreaming of a    stress-free (seems to be working so far!) and relaxing     Christmas.

Have a happy Christmas everyone!
