Trip Down Memory Lane

Memory lane

Some girlfriends of mine (from IRL) posted these prompts on their Facebooks and were supposed to give whomever commented an age to fill in the prompts. I used age 20 as that was the age they all started with, I was given 26 as my age to write about, and then added my current age range.  Just some silliness for a Monday.

At age 20

I dated:  Steve
I drove:  Nothing. Got around by bus or walking.
I worked:  Part time at a medical non-profit, while going to university full time.
Feared:  Failure
Wanted to be:  A fundraiser.

At age 26

I dated:  My soon-to-be husband
I drove:  A 4-door Honda Civic…miss that car!
I worked:  Full time at a medical non-profit
Feared:  Failure
Wanted to be:  A fundraiser, which I was so all was good.

Now, in my late 30s

I date:  My wonderful man, and am happily divorced.
I drive:  A schmexy green station wagon.
I work:  Full time SAHM, Autism advocate, and am a blogger too.
I fear:  Someone hurting my kids, something happening to me so I can’t look after my children, letting my children down, not being able to support them in achieving whatever goals they have in life.
Want to be:  Happy

Fill in the Blank Friday – May the 4th be with you…

1.  My bedtime routine includes picking up toys from the floor, checking social media, getting ready for bed, reading, talking with my man on the phone, then off to sleep.

2.   I am happily divorced! 🙂

3.  I can’t stand when the Playdoh colours mix together because it’s just wrong!

4. My idea of relaxation would be curling up with my man, with warm cup of chai, blanket and reading some silly chick-lit book…don’t worry honey, I wouldn’t ask/expect you to read the chick-lit book. 😉

5. If I had an extra $50, I would fill up my gas tank fully instead of only half. 😉
6. The best thing about a bloggy friend is hmmm…not sure. Have made some “bloggy friends” but I can’t really identify a “best thing” about them.

7.  A recipe I’ve been dying to try is hmmm…another one I’m not sure about. I was just looking through my recipe books today actually, wanting to get back to cooking the way I used to.

Fill in the Blank Friday – 04/20

1.  Today is a great day because I just got some GREAT news…can tell yet though! 😉

2.   Tomorrow I will be attending a wedding with my man. Gotta let him see me wearing something other than my SAHM “uniform”. LOL!

3.  My favorite time of day is   just after my kids bedtime   because   I get to reflect upon the day, watch my kids sleeping, and listen to the quiet.

4. Sometimes you just have to    smile, nod, and THINK all the things you want to say. 😉

5. A song that I just can’t get enough of lately is   hmmm…not sure. No “earworms” lately, thankfully.

6. My favorite accessory is   a necklace, specifically a locket my mom gave me for my birthday, after my kids were born. It has two hearts on it, and my kids’ names and birthdate engraved on the back. My man even got pictures of my kids to include in the locket for my birthday last year, so now the locket is “complete”…finally!

7.  My favorite thing about this week was finding “the” dress to wear at a wedding my man and I are going to tomorrow.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.  My greatest strength is making people feel at ease, and being able to “translate” Autism to regular English apparently (or so I’ve been told by many people recently).

2.   My greatest weakness is dealing with change in routines, and getting “stuck” on certain tasks.

3.  People always compliment me on my parenting skills, and my smile.

4. If you found me procrastinating you’d probably find me on Facebook…sad, but true.

5. The most cozy place in all the world is snuggling with my kids.
6. Something new that I tried recently was painting pottery with my daughter. We had a great time. Pics will be uploaded soon of the finished projects.

7.  This weekend I would like to have some time to plan. I’ve been invited to talk about Autism next Wednesday on a local radio station (yay!), so I need to do some prep-work and planning before then. I’m co-chairing my daughter’s school fundraiser on Saturday so planning time may have to wait until early next week.

Fill in the Blank Friday – Colour

1. My favorite colour is   green   .

2. My home decor colour palette includes a lot of greens and creams.

3. Other people always tell me I look good in the colour     green and brown – not a far leap for us gingers.

4. The colour I detest is puce – does this really need further explanation?

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you’d see would be jeans and black – what can I say? I’m a SAHM.

6. A colour that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is   most pastel colours. Although I’m fortunate to have lots of freckles on my face which make it seem like I’m not as pale as most other redheads, pastels just don’t work for me.

7. The colour of my favorite dress is   a non-metallic gold. I have a beautiful evening dress that matches my haircolour, with a lace overlay. It hides everything and accentuates what I want it to accentuate. Don’t have many opportunities to wear it though – think the last time I wore it was when I was breastfeeding and frankly, I was just happy it still fit me!

Fill in the Blank Friday – 03/09

I missed last week’s Fill in the Blank Friday so I thought I should catch up…

1.  The highlight of my week was going skating with my daughter’s school, specifically seeing the happiness on her face when I walked into the dressing room. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make it because I came down with the flu earlier in the week but I had enough strength to go, and I’m so glad I did. My daughter was so happy! The next highlight of my week was getting roses from my man, just because. Swoon…

2.   If I had to classify my interior design aesthetic it would be…still to be determined. I like having things comfy and cozy, and my choice of colour is green.

3.  My first vehicle was a Honda Civic 4-door…I miss driving a Honda, but for now, am a proud driver of a sexy mini-van.

4. An item I need to have in my day in order to function is my cell phone and my computer (yes, I’m counting them as only one thing), and a close second is at least one cup of chai but there are days I have actually done without a chai, surprisingly.

5. My favorite way to waste time is Facebook.

6. Right now I could really go for having my full appetite back. It’s coming back slowly from the flu but there’s yummy bacon-wrapped steak in my fridge, made by my man, just waiting for me and I haven’t been able to enjoy it yet.

7.  This weekend I will be spending 3 days straight with just my daughter, while my son spends the weekend with their dad. Neither of us get much one-on-one time with either of the kids, so I’m really looking forward to it.
