Meet Me On Monday – 11/21

Thanks Momma T and Baby E again for this prompt!

1.  I wish I had more time to read, blog, sleep, spend time with my friends.

2.  What is your favorite kind of soup?
I make a great pureed spicy lentil soup, but don’t make it very often, purely because my ex got the food processor in the separation…but, to be fair, it was his to begin with. ;)

3.  Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?
Thanksgiving already happened in Canada (in October) so the kids and I had a big Thanksgiving dinner at my man’s home, with his family and friends. It’s a very busy weekend that weekend for us because it’s Thanksgiving AND there are two birthdays.

4.  What is your favorite time of day?
It may sound horrible but, my favourite time of day is after my kids are both in bed and asleep. Our home is finally quiet from the day, and I can do all the puttering around I want/have energy left for, or just pop in a movie and wrap up in a blanket to watch a movie.

5.  Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
Yes. I’ve bought a few gifts already…there’s no point in waiting until closer to Christmas.

Fill in the Blanks Friday – 10/21

1.  Nothing says fall like fragrances such as pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and getting the slowcooker going again.

2.  My favorite autumnal tradition is playing in the leaves with my kids. We have 40 acres to play in this year!

3.  My favorite fall treat is a pumpkin scone at Starbucks, with my usual chai-latte.

4. Fall makes me think of my birthday because my birthday weekend tends to be when the weather starts to change.

5.  Autumn free form word association, go! Good red-head colours (ie: earth tones), changing colours, gerbera daisies, mums, cable knit sweaters, pumpkin pie.

6.  My go-to outfit in the fall is jeans and a sweater, with heels if it’s not pouring rain out.

7.  My favorite fall holiday is (Halloween or Thanksgiving) Thanksgiving all the way! Pumpkin pie!!!  Yummy!

My Thankfuls

This is always a VERY busy weekend in my family because of two birthdays (mine and my moms on the same day!) plus (Canadian) Thanksgiving.  So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to share my “thankfuls” with everyone.  I’m thankful for:

  • my son and daughter
  • being able to write a factual letter (those who know me IRL will know what this means)
  • blogging, otherwise my brain would be in overload all the time!
  • Canada’s free healthcare – have no idea how I would have afforded all the services my son has had to help him live with Autism
  • my son starting IBI
  • feeling stronger and more supported than I have ever felt in my life

For fear of this sounding like an “acceptance speech”…I also want to thank some very dear people in my life:

  • K.G. – I have no idea what I would have done without you since the end of my marriage. The daily phone calls have reduced down to “only” emails or Facebook messages, with the occasional phone call, but you truly helped me through the toughest time in my life.
  • S.A.– My “sister from another mother”.  ‘Nuff said.
  • A.J. – My “big-bro type”, who is always there for me, whether just with a quick “boo”, teasing, or huge hugs.
  • A.S. – For being an amazing partner, without believing that you are, or that you are doing anything special (makes him even sexier!).
  • My mom – do I really need to explain anything here? She’s my mom…and the most AWESOME mom ever! (PS – If you want to know the title of the book she gave me for my birthday, leave your Twitter handle or email address in the Comments section below, or email me at imamomtoo.meghan(at)gmail(dot)com…it’s a good one and made me laugh…related to being a single mom!)

What and who are you thankful for?
